Justice for people and their pets in veterinary care
"My rooster had extensive testing done by the vet and the results were not even all back when the SPCA seized and killed him." W. Brundage, B.C.
The BC SPGA receive angry emails from people with pets who have had their pet seized while under the care of a
veterinarian. Then the owner of the pet is prosecuted in Court.
The scenario is usually the same: An animal is in treatment by
a veterinarian, the BC SPCA receives a complaint and the BC SPCA hire a vet to examine the animal (undermining the treating vet) and seize the
animal. The seized animals are gone forever, either with the BC SPCA selling them or euthanizing them. The penalties for
the person with the pet can be up to two years of prison or a fine of $75,000
Don't wait until this happens to you and your pet🐾
"BC SPCA have forcibly removed my senior beloved German Shephard dog despite her being scheduled next day for surgery ." Dr. M. Marcu, B.C.
The BC SPGA does not support this practice. People with pets who seek veterinary care for a sick or injured animal
are responsible and caring people. The animal should not be taken by the BC SPCA in what we allege is an unfair and 'shady' practice.
If you agree that people with pets in veterinary care should not be seized or prosecuted by animal enforcement, please tell the B.C. Attorney General, who is also the Deputy Premier, Niki Sharma, to immediately make fairer laws below.

Campaign update: A volunteer with the BC SPGA has undertaken to file a petition in the BC Supreme Court under the Canadian Charter Of Rights and Freedoms, section 7, for an order that seizing animals from pet owners while in the care and treatment of a licensed veterinarian, where a complaint has not been made by the treating veterinarian, is unfair and unjust; and that people be compensated on a case-by-case basis.
