The Newly appointed Housing Minister Christine Boyle may take on the Premier's decision to finally end pet discrimination in British Columbia's rental housing.
Pressure had been mounting by the BC SPGA for the (former) Housing Minister Ravinder Kahlon to resign the post. The pet public in British Columbia stand behind Premier Eby's decision to end pet discrimination in the rental housing market and the former minister repeatedly rebuked the attempts to make change for animals and their beloveds to live together in the majority of the province's rental vacancies.
A spokesperson for the BC SPGA said that, "Creating a welcoming environment for families and individuals with pets is essential to fostering community and ensuring all residents, including furry family members, feel at home in British Columbia. We are excited to work with the newly appointed Housing Minister Christine Boyle for change to end the current pet discrimination rental housing crisis."

“Having a home should mean being able to include your beloved pets.”

The great majority of British Columbians support pet-friendly housing according to BC SPGA's numerous surveys and interactive communications with the public in the past two years. Partners in this endeavour include the Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre (TRAC) and organizations/unions support pet-friendly rentals including the Union of BC Municipalities, PETS OK BC, BC SPCA, the CHF BC and Community Land Trust, the Animal Protection Party Of Canada, the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA), the Canada Landlords Association, the BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) and many others.

Renewed optimism for Pet-Friendly Rental Housing Policy
The BC SPGA recently contacted the newly appointed minister with reminders that a pet-friendly British Columbia is good for the wellbeing of animals and the public, is a boost to Tourism and a strong economy.
We wish North MLA Ravinder Kahlon, who is now the BC minister of jobs and economic growth, all the best and support him in ensuring equality for all peoples of all cultural backgrounds in British Columbia for business and job opportunities grants.
