A spokesperson for the BC SPGA said that, " The BC SPCA search engine paid ad tactic raises concerns about transparency and the ethical implications of using financial resources to manipulate Google search engine results. It appears to be that this method is not merely a marketing strategy but rather a deliberate attempt to obscure the existence and mission of the BC SPGA."

A public search for "Contact BC SPGA" brings the paid BC SPCA sponsored ad as the first Google search engine listing.

By prioritizing its own organization in search results, the BC SPCA is undermining the public's ability to access accurate information about the BC SPGA, which serves a distinct purpose in the pet guardian and their animals community.

This raises questions about the integrity of the BC SPCA's intentions and whether they are genuinely committed to animal welfare or simply focused on promoting their own agenda.

A BC SPGA spokesperson added that "Our perception is that the BC SPCA is blocking the public's attempts to find us on the biggest internet search engine by paying for Google sponsored ads so that their private charity dominates the search results. The public's donations to the tune of over $500,000 are used every year to pay outside agencies to essentially spam the search results with paid BC SPCA ads for terms unrelated to the BC SPCA. There may be a fear that our Society might become better known to the pet public by using BC SPGA search terms whom they have, and continue to, considerably profit from."
